How can you call yourself Christian and not stand up to wrongdoings? Are you not called to be the salt of the earth? Whether it is your neighborhood, local government, federal government or on the international level, it doesn’t matter. If there is a wrong being done that you’re aware of then it is to be addressed.
“An injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere”
– Dr. King
You often hear preachers say, “God moves through his people”. I can’t begin to tell you how often I’ve heard this claim. Typically, it is said regarding funding for outreach or building improvements. It seems the church is more concerned with growing its membership rather than defending the general population.
If that quote is true, why don’t you hear preachers encouraging their congregation to stand up to wrongdoings? Why don’t you hear preachers who defend the constitution? Is the church not called to STAND IN THE GAP for the weak, the oppressed, the downtrodden and the wronged, or is that what God called the government to do?
A government where killing 200 innocent victims is collateral damage to killing 1 terrorist. Abortion is encouraged. Birth control is freely distributed in schools. The water is full of fluoride, proven to cause brain damage. The carcinogen aspartame is found in numerous foods and the church is quiet, concerned only with their next function.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not against church functions and projects. The fellowship of the saints is important, however; the majority of its functions are skewed to its members. There is so much more that the church is capable and called to do. Its potential is grotesquely underachieved. I believe a lot of this is the result of fear. There is the fear of public opinion. There is a fear of gaining knowledge, losing the ability to deny. Fear of the government. Fear has become an epidemic in the church and it starts with the senior pastor.
2 Timothy 1:7
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power and of love and of a sound mind”
If you allow fear to deter you, then you are already dead. You’re turning your back on the Holy Spirit. How dare you fear evil and wrongdoers with God’s gift residing in you? Fear is spitting in the face of God. There’s no other way to say it.
